Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program

Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Vouchers

Due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Sourcewise will not participate in the delivery of the Senior Farmers’ Market Voucher Program in 2022. Check back by end of June 2023  for updates.

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides seniors the opportunity to purchase fresh, nutritious, unprepared, unprocessed, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs from authorized farmers markets and roadside stands. The program increases the consumption of local agricultural commodities and helps aid in the development of new farmers markets and roadside stands along with community supported agriculture programs.

Who qualifies for this program?

Low-income seniors, age 60 or older (age 55+ for American Indian or Alaska Native) with an income level at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (which is $1,986/month for a single person and $2,686/month for a couple) are eligible for this program.

How do I participate in this program?

Santa Clara County residents can contact Sourcewise at (408) 350-3200, option 1 to learn how to participate. To best serve Santa Clara County residents, Sourcewise distributes all SFMNP voucher booklets at senior and community centers throughout Santa Clara County.

SFMNP vouchers are distributed on a first–come, first-serve basis.

Eligible participants receive a $20 valued booklet of SFMNP vouchers to be used at participating farmers markets and roadside stands. SFMNP vouchers are valid during harvest season, which is June through November of the current year.

How do I know where I can use my vouchers?

In partnership with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), Sourcewise provides you with a list of certified farmers’ markets in Santa Clara County.

A list of participating farmers’ markets and roadside stands is provided to each recipient of SFMNP vouchers.

What if I need support?

Caregivers or family members may purchase produce with the SFMNP vouchers on behalf of an eligible participant. No cash change will be issued for purchases that are in an amount less than the value of the voucher(s), and no State or local taxes will be collected on purchases of food with checks. SFMNP vouchers have a cash value of $4 each and come in books of $20 (5 vouchers each). Caregivers or family members may sign up as a proxy for one eligible individual. Bring your completed Proxy form or obtain one at a designated SFMNP distribution location.

Santa Clara County residents can contact Sourcewise at (408) 350-3200, option 1 to learn how to participate.
