Jan 26, 2024 | Newsletter, Winter 2024

Tax season can be overwhelming for anyone, but there are resources available that can help you with preparing your tax return seamlessly and at no cost for those who are eligible.

The Internal Revenue Services (IRS) Direct Pilot Tax Preparation program has partnered with nonprofits to provide free tax preparation services to older adults and individuals with lower income. This hands-on assistance program will ensure that your taxes are done correctly for you to receive every deduction and credit you deserve.

The IRS understands that older adults have specific tax considerations, and they have put helpful resources together to help older adults understand their options. By visiting their website, older adults can find useful information about retirement income, tax deductions, and credits designed with older adults in mind.

The Tax EZ Program by Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County offers free tax help for individuals and families who earned less than $64,000 in 2023. With the help of community partners, certified volunteers are available to assist eligible households with preparing their taxes for the 2024 tax season. Volunteers receive tax training from IRS-trained instructors in order to help households prepare their taxes accurately. Free tax help is available in person and interpretation services are available, if needed.

These free tax preparation resources are available to help simplify the tax preparation process and maximize tax refunds and credits. Take advantage of these resources, and you will be on your way to a smoother tax experience.
