Sourcewise Marks 50 Years of Service, Honoring Community Partners and Volunteers
Santa Clara, December 5, 2023: Sourcewise celebrated a significant milestone on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, commemorating its 50th year of dedicated service to older adults, persons with disabilities and their caregivers in Santa Clara County. The event took place at the Delta Hotels by Marriott, located at 2151 Laurelwood Road in Santa Clara.
Distinguished guests, including Sourcewise Board of Directors, Advisory Council members, community partners, and volunteers gathered to recognize this remarkable achievement. The celebration commenced with a delightful breakfast buffet. City of Santa Clara Councilmember Kathy Watanabe presented a certificate of Special Mayoral Recognition on behalf of City of Santa Clara Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor. Additional commendations and recognition awards from by local elected officials were displayed at the event including: Senator Dave Cortese, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, Congressman Ro Khana, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, Assemblymember Ash Kalra, Assemblymember Evan Low.
Aneliza Del Pinal, Chief Executive Officer of Sourcewise, welcomed everyone with a heartfelt speech, reflecting on the organization’s journey and impact over the past five decades. Susan DeMarois, Director of the California Department of Aging (CDA) shared pre-recorded remarks followed by Michael Costa, Executive Director for the California Association for Area Agencies on Aging (C4A).
“Your AAA has had an innovative spirit since its inception in 1973, as one of the first AAAs in California, initially offering Senior Employment Services and Meals on Wheels and eventually offering 17 unique services to residents of Santa Clara County”, stated by Michael.
The event continued with reflections by Sourcewise Board President, Jeff Tepper and the screening of a video highlighting key moments and achievements throughout the years, showcasing Sourcewise’s commitment to its mission.
In a special segment, Sourcewise honored four outstanding community partners for their continuous support. The recipients of the prestigious awards included The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department (PRNS), Outstanding Community Partner Award, Hearts & Minds Activity Center, Community Impact Award, Ilja Isani, Outstanding Volunteer Award, and Senior Adults Legal Assistance (SALA), Non-Profit Excellence Award. These awards recognized the exceptional contributions of these partners to Sourcewise’s mission of serving and uplifting the community.
A touching moment unfolded as Azalia Guzman, a Sourcewise client, shared her success story during the event. Azalia expressed her gratitude for the South County Resident Case Management program, which played an important role in helping her acquire a motor scooter, significantly improving the quality of her life.
The celebration concluded with an apple cider toast, symbolizing Sourcewise’s commitment to continued service and growth. Attendees captured the memorable occasion in a lively photo booth, creating lasting memories of the organization’s 50th anniversary celebration.
